SAVOY, MARY GERTRUDE (GERTIE)
October 11, 1938 to August 4, 2023
Mary Gertrude (Gertie) Savoy from Murray Settlement, NB passed away peacefully after a short illness on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Gertie was born in Chatham, New Brunswick on October 11, 1938, to Francois Xavier Thibodeau and Mary Louise (Dignard) Thibodeau both of Beaverbrook, New Brunswick.
Gertie was mother to five daughters, Angel Dale of Harbour Round, Carolee Morais, of Edmonton, Brenda Morais (John) of Fredericton, Syrah Debby Savoy (Catherine) of Ottawa, Elaine Savoy (Ronald) of Collette, and one son, Christopher Savoy (Paulette) of Murray Settlement. She raised her children with love and devotion with her late husband Zen Damian (Junior) Savoy.
Gertie was a devoted wife who loved to travel. She adored the outdoors, nature, flowers, and gardening. Gertie loves lights from all sources from the brightest city lights to the stars that comprise astrological symbols to the soft blink of a firefly. She could help anything grow and patiently taught her traditional knowledge of survival with nature to both her children and grandchildren.
Gertie is survived by her children, and grandchildren, Kara Dale, Krystal Dale, Devon Hart, Justin Richard, Angel Richard (Chris), Harmony Butler (Rebecca), Branden Butler, and Cheyenne Savoy. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Winter and Zaylee.
Gertie is also survived by her brothers, Edward Thibodeau, Marcel Thibodeau (Margaret aka Peewee); William Thibodeau (Janey), Joseph Thibodeau (Nathalie) and sisters, Angel Chiasson (Conrad), Mary-Jean Wright (Lyle), Anne Thibodeau (Stephane) and many nieces and nephews
Gertie was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of over 50 years, her sister Mary Jane Marsh (Mike), and brother Peter Thibodeau.
At the request of Gertie as well as the family, there will be no public visitation or service. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
