Mary Znachor, 87 years old of Peterborough, Ontario passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday July 19th, 2023. She knew she was never alone and always felt the love and support of family and friends. Born in Blenheim, Ontario, Mary lived in Chatham, Ontario for most of her life with her one and only love, her husband, Rudy Znachor (predeceased 2012). Cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Kacer. Survived by her daughters, Carol Adams (James) of Peterborough, Ontario and Joanne Prevett (Joe Prevett, predeceased 2014) of Kingston, Ontario, loving siblings, sister Bette Maillet (Larry,
predeceased 2018), Joseph Kacer (predeceased 2016) (Viola, predeceased 2019), and Anthony Kacer (predeceased 2020) (Jo-Anne), nieces and nephews, Darren Kacer, Tony Kacer (Tina), Ann Marie Kieswetter (David), James Kacer (predeceased 2023), Mike Maillet (Marcia), Dan Maillet (predeceased 2016). Grandchildren, Julie Adams (Jun Hyun An), Jaclyn Adams, Lindsay Fleming, Nick Prevett (Christina), great grandchildren, Hailey and Ryan Fleming and Mya and Quinn Prevett. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered by cherished family, Margaret Adams (Neale, predeceased 1992), Heather Adams, the Filip family of Sarnia, and family in Slovakia.
Mary was known for her devotion to her family, sweet demeanor and heart of gold. She was an incredible cook and baker of Czech pastries, enjoyed over the years by family and friends. Mary was an avid and talented gardener who had beautiful vegetable and flower gardens around her home. She was blessed with many memories of countless road trips and camping with her husband and daughters. She passed down her talents for baking and canning fruits and vegetables and her much loved by all, potato pancakes. Mary always enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, for a celebration of life, taking place in the chapel of the funeral home, on Saturday September 9th at 1:00 pm, with visiting from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Internment Stewart Cemetery. Family and friends planning an expression of
remembrance are asked to consider The Land Between (a conservation organization), or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
