Obituary For Magloire “Mike” Brochu
Magloire “Mike” Brochu, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Girouxville, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Prairie Lake Seniors Community, at the age of 88 years.
Magloire was born in Girouxville, on August 12, 1934, to David and Alice (nee Ruel) Brochu, the second youngest in a family of fourteen children; five brothers and eight sisters.
Magloire attended school in Girouxville and spent the majority of his younger years on the family farm and was an equipment operator throughout the province. In 1957, he married Gisele Simard. In 1958, they moved to Yellowknife, NWT, and stayed for approximately two years, where he was employed operating heavy equipment in the Giant Gold Mines. Returning to Girouxville, the family settled on the Brochu homestead.
Magloire is survived by his four children: Lise (Brent) Arac, Stella (Derek) Smith, Danny Brochu (Dede), and Pauline Brochu (Dale); two sisters Alphonsine L’Heureux and Marguerite Gelinas; grandchildren: Jamie Monette, Christine (Darcy) Tomkow, Katie Arac, Barry (Stacey) Manysiak, Derek (Vanessa) Manysiak, Christa (Thane) Leclerc, Vanessa McEntegart, Stephanie (Brian) Cloutier, Ashley Brochu (Tyler), Patrick (Katie) Brochu, Shaundra (Trevor) Siebert, and Scott (Alena) Ryder; as well as great-grandchildren: Lily, Dorian, and James Monette; Reese and Tyler Tomkow; Rylan, Kayson, Brayden, Avery, and Benjamyn Manysiak; Josephine and Rosalyn Manysiak; Haven and Griffin Leclerc; Conner, Cara, and Catelyn Cloutier; Myla Brochu; Dayne, Rory, and Landyn Brochu; McKenzie and Kenna Siebert; Camryn, and Lincoln Ryder.
Magloire was predeceased by his parents David and Alice; brothers: Hermenegilde, Gerard, Georges, Rosaire, and Henri; sisters: Madeleine Hebert, Marie-Louise Mackell, Anna Labrie, Therese Albert, Cecile Chevrette, and Aline Audy; son in-law Jean Monette; as well as great-granddaughter Baby Everly Manysiak.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10402 102 Street). Luncheon to follow in Tranquille Hall.
Interment to be in Girouxville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in memory of Magloire Brochu (10402 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 2W3).
