Obituary
Rosamond Kozoriz passed away peacefully at the General Hospital Hospice Unit, Edmonton, AB, on July 24, 2023, at the age of 96 years.
Rosamond was born in Sheho, SK, on December 10, 1926, to Bill and Anna (nee Fedorchuk) Springenatic. She was the youngest of seven children and was educated at Deer Park, Sheho High School, and St Joseph’s in Ituna, SK. On June 16, 1946, Rosamond was married to Michael Kozoriz, in the Sheho Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Rosamond was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Anna, her six siblings, and her husband of 57 years, Michael. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Joe), and grandsons, Chris and Jon (Harvey).
Rosamond shared her numerous talents with many friends and organizations over the years. She was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity for 60 years until she moved to Edmonton in 2011 to be closer to her family. She gave freely of her time to numerous committees throughout her service. The committees included: Auditing, Cultural and Educational, Museum, Benevolent, Sick and Visiting, and the Choir. Rosamond also taught Sunday School, was a convener of work groups, sang with the church choir and served on the Prov. executive as 1st Vice for three years. She was recognized for 50 years of continuous service at an annual membership program of the Ukrainian Women’s Association, Canora Branch.
Throughout her life, Rosamond enjoyed a variety of crafts, entertaining friends at their home, and was especially known for her gourmet desserts. Her family fondly remembers the many summers at the house on Main Street and the cabin at Crystal Lake. The grandchildren especially enjoyed devouring the many treats she would bake. Searching for berries and mushrooms were always part of the fun with family and friends. After moving to Edmonton, Rosamond continued to be involved in her community at Canterbury Manor. She enjoyed the many activities that were offered (fitness, knitting, bingo, whist, coffee club) and she started a tile rummy group. Her family was blessed to have her with them in Edmonton for the past 12 years and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
As per her wishes, a Private Service will be held from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Michael Faryna officiating and Zennovia Duch as cantor. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK.
