Obituary of Rick Austen
Saturday the 22nd of July 2023 Charles (Rick) Frederick Austen aged 74 years passed away peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy battle with MS. He is survived by his long time Girlfriend Shirley, sister Jane and his children Tricia, Tracie (Wally) and Rick. Grandchildren Kyle (Sim), George, Taryn, Layne (Christian), Alyssa, Darrian (Conor), Alana, Chloe, Bailey, Jordan, Trey, Mason, Jayden and Charles and Great-Grandchildren Laurel and Isaac. He will also be missed greatly by Joe, Shirley’s son.
He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Muriel, sisters Gail, Joanne and Ellen and his grandson Daniel.
Rick was a proficient drummer who loved performing with his band back in the day. He was a professional driver by trade and travelled all over North America during his career. His passion for trucking was only trumped by his love of family and friends. He loved nothing more than gathering and having a cold one while trading stories.
As per his wishes, Rick has been cremated and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the MS Society of Canada.
