Moncton, NB – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Paul-G. Doucet at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday July 22, surrounded by his family.
Born in Moncton on September 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Gerald Doucet and the late Euphénie (Bourgeois) Doucet.
He is survived by his wife, Solange (Roux) Doucet; his two sons: Paul Jr. Doucet (Anita Villemaire) of Windsor, ON. and Jérome Doucet (Hannah Wheathon) of Moncton; his two daughters: Geneviève Drover of Fredericton and Marie-Estelle Doucet of Moncton; his four grandchildren: Zöe, Zachary, Maledeine and Jade; his three brothers: Jean-Charles Doucet (Annette LeBlanc) of Fredericton, Robert Doucet (Pauline Richard) of Moncton and Gérald Doucet (Jeannine Daigle) of Montreal; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alvin.
He saw death coming and accepted it with the courage that his Christian faith gave him. He passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer that lasted 11 years (including the pre-cancer stage).
He was an attentive and loving husband as well as a good father to his 4 children (and loved to spoil them!…)
He was passionate about his work as a doctor, and he deeply loved his patients. He was gifted with a sense of humor that lightened up certain situations.
Several hobbies brightened up his free time: Ecological gardening and nature preservation, reading and exchanges on these with Solange, his wife, Acadian history and genealogy, sharing the moments of stories revealed to us by stamps and coins and maintaining family ties through numerous trips to Quebec (Solange’s native land) and Nova Scotia (Wedgeport area, where his father came from).
Visitation will be held at Passage Funeral Cooperative (625 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB, E1C 2P1, 506-855-1145) on Thursday August 3rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. Funeral mass will be held at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, on Friday, August 4th at 11:00 a.m.
In Paul’s memory, a donation can be made to the Salvus Clinic: www.salvusclinic.com/
