Peacefully at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, Phyllis Jean Urry passed away at the age of 102 years. Beloved daughter of late Iva (nee Ruhnke) and William Urry. Loving granddaughter of the late Elizabeth Drummond Ruhnke and William H. Ruhnke. Dear niece of the late Elda Ruhnke, Jack Wanless, Gladys Ruhnke, Emmett Filkins, and special niece to the late Jean Ruhnke, Lester Smith, Russell Ruhnke, Myrtle Wemp, Clarence Ruhnke and Grace Jack. Phyllis will be missed by her many cousins in Ontario, United States and Scotland. Thank you for the special care she received from cousins the late Joseph and Joyce Breynaert of Chatham, Wendy and Mike Fields of Chatham, Cindy and Blake Bosselaar of Chatham, and cousins Judith and John Scholz of Sarnia. Cherished friends of Eileen, Beth, Gloria, Mary Ann, the late Jessie, Jane, Louise, and Yvette. Phyllis graduated as an R.N. in 1942 and worked for the late Dr. W.P. Turner and for many years for the late Dr. George E.S. Beattie. Phyllis was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, the U.C.W, the Olive Shanks Mission, and the Lloyd Johnston Auxiliary. She volunteered at St. Andrew’s Residence. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, on Sunday July 30th, 2023, with visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Monday July 31st, 2023, at 11 am with Pastor Greg Simpson of St. Andrew’s United Church officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider St. Andrew’s United Church, Outreach for Hunger C-K, or Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation.
