Lillian Thomson (nee Smith)
June 30, 1926 – July 15, 2023.
Lil was with loved ones when she left behind a life well lived and a family well-loved at the Kemptville Hospital on July 15th in her 98th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bert (2005), her daughter Mavis (2015), her granddaughter Dawn (1971), grandson Derrick (1984), her great-grandchildren Claudia (2001) and Denver (2006) and her daughter-in-law Marie (2020). She will be greatly missed by her son-in-law Michael (Mavis – deceased) McIndoo, children Bob (Linda), Morley (Lynda), Judy (Bryon) Wallace, Wayne (Sally), Gerald, and Mary (Jeff) Windsor. She leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillian was born in Navan, ON the youngest of 11 children to Thomas Oliver and Mary Lucy Smith (nee Lowe), she was predeceased by her parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. She was the last survivor of this generation. She married Robert Herman Campbell Thomson July 7th, 1945 they moved to Kemptville where they raised their 7 children.
Sincere thanks to all her caregivers, special mention to Jessie Hutchins, Robyn LaPorte, Goldie Scott and Sally Cusson as well as all care givers from Bayshore over the last 20 years. Without all of your care she would not have been able to stay in the family home. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) over the last 4 weeks of her life.
Visitation will be held at the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry – Kemptville Chapel, 805 Prescott Street, July 24, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by service in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment to immediately follow at the Munster Union Cemetery. Reception following to be held at Bob and Linda Thomson’s home, 6617 McCordick Road, North Gower, ON K0A 2T0. Please bring lawn chairs.
