On Saturday July 15, 2023, at the age of 81, at Riverview Heights Retirement Home after a short battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Welland Charkavi (2016).
Dear mother of sons, Donald (Diana Harper) Oshawa, Paul (Suzanne Brisebois) Costa Blanca, Panama and Stephen (Jennifer Duff) Pembroke.
Cherished grandmother of Philip (Rebecca), Drew (Aislynn Row), Robert (Jessica), Aleck (Hayley Krueger), Darby (Gabriela Pineda), Katie Harper and Tara Harper (Brandon). Great grandmother of Jackson, Ben, Ashton, Rachel and Morgan.
Dear sister of Cecilia Demers (late Leo) Pembroke, Theresa Coulombe (Paul) Pembroke and Earl Carroll (Mary) of Brockville.
Predeceased by parents Philip and Cecilia Carroll (nee Primeau), brother Albert and his wife Rita, brother Elmer and his wife Norma, brother Clifford and his wife Pearl, sister Loretta and her husband Noel Lair, brothers Michael and Gerald, sister-in-law Bernice Van Wert and her husband Robert, sister-in-law Bernadette Lauzon and her husband Rene, and brother-in-law Grady Lewis.
She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her many nephews and nieces, especially her niece Maryanne Gosnell, who was like the daughter she never had. Her friends and staff will also miss her at Riverview Heights, especially her dear friend Ellen Beanish.
Geraldine worked at the Pembroke General Hospitaland laterat Marianhilluntil retirement. Mom loved hockey,whether attending her son’s or grandson’s games or just cheering on her Ottawa Senators. She loved playing cards and slots, both of which she did until the end.
A special thanks to the staff at the Riverview Heights Retirement. Mom always felt at home there, arriving two years ago, where she always received compassionate nursing care and support. Thank you as well to the Champlain LHIN community support and Bayshore Health. Also thanks to Doctor Hing,for the great care over the years. Thanks to Dr. Murray as well.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Geraldine with her family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Wednesday 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of The Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke. Interment at a later date in St. Columba’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Carefor Pembroke would be greatly appreciated by the family.
