Born in Ottawa to the late Joseph Brill and the late Ethel Brill Benoway, predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Elliott Levitan, and her sister, Phyllis Brill Leef.
Survived by her brother Dr. Percy Brill of St. Catharine’s, Ontario. Mother to Marilyn, Barbara, Shirley, Annie and (the late) Joseph and loving mother in law to Len Kahansky and Bill Rogers.
Bubby to Ed, Conrad, Joshua and Miriam Haldorsen, Avrah Levitan, Emma and Noah Kahansky, Shayna, Yoni, and Josh Levitan. Great grandmother to Gillian and Parker Haldorsen, Mason Levitan and EliSheva, Judah and Solly Lavi. Also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
In her youth, Sally volunteered for many charitable organizations, including driving cancer patients, the Ottawa Hospital, the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club, Hadassah Wizo, National Council of Jewish Women and the Jewish Community Center.
After having her children, Sally fulfilled her lifelong dream of earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in Religion and Fine Arts. She graduated “with distinction” from Carleton University in 1978. She then joined the National Gallery of Canada’s Docent Group, giving public tours, and leading study groups at the Gallery. She also facilitated art tours in the States and Europe. Her pet projects were supporting programs for children who would otherwise not be exposed to the arts in both Israel and Canada.
Upon retirement from the Docent program after 37 years, Sally, a lifelong student, enjoyed reading, history, bookclubs, university courses and international travel.
A graveside Funeral Service will be held Monday July 10 at 2:30 pm at Jewish Memorial Gardens 2692 Bansk Street, Ottawa.
Shiva will be observed in Toronto at the home of Annie Levitan 446 Bedford Park Ave, on Wednesday and Thursday 4 to 7pm.

Dear Marilyn, Barbara, Annie and families, so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed visits to Ottawa as a kid and always enjoyed her visits to Toronto with your Dad.
