Phyllis passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, at the age of 94.
Beloved wife of the late Graham Shellnutt.
Devoted and loving mother to the late Lynn Shellnutt and the late Jane Eikov (Barry). Predeceased by her parents Herbert Loye and Julia Conrad, Brothers Bernard (Florence), Donald (Helen) and sisters Marion (Larry), Jean (Wilmot) and close family Cousin Ruth (Joseph).Phyllis was born in Halifax in 1928 and following her marriage to Graham moved to Germany, Fredericton, and Edmonton before settling in Ottawa and raising their family.
Phyllis was an exemplary self-taught pianist and instilled a love of music in her Daughters who both became talented musicians.
Phyllis loved conversation and had an incredible wit that was always delivered with a slight smile and twinkle in her eye. She was a devoted volunteer at the Peter D. Clark facility during and after Graham’s illness.
Phyllis is the last of her generation and will be sadly missed by her friends at Crystal View Lodge, many nieces and nephews and in particular Shirley (Karl), Judy (Jim) and David (Rhonda).
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, Ontario, on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 12 noon followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care Ottawa (Ruddy Shenkman) would be appreciated.
