MAXWELL, Dana Clayton, 58, was born September 6, 1964 in Toronto ON and passed away on June 2, 2023 in Abbotsford BC. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Lynne Maxwell, Toronto ON. Mourned by his sisters Lynda (Lorne) Keen, Kamloops BC and Angela Stevens, Toronto ON. Dana will be sadly missed by stepmom Barb Maxwell, brothers Richard (Janice) Lewis, Shawn (Debbie) Bradshaw, Todd (Charmaine) Bradshaw, sisters Carolyn Bradshaw, Crystal Parsons and father figure Lynval Blake, all of Greater Toronto, and many relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. His special family Ray “Boss Man” and Aman Gill and their children, his coworkers and numerous friends also mourn his loss. Predeceased by his parents Elaine W. Maxwell, David W. Maxwell, brothers David A. Maxwell, Tracey Bradshaw, sister Linda Bradshaw, brother-in-law Fredrick Stevens, nephew Danny Morales.
Dana was a truck driver for over 30 years, driving long haul in Canada and the U.S. then garbage trucks then driving heavy haul – lumber, military equipment, vans, B-trains – flat decks, low bed, and Sea Cans across Canada.
In his younger years, he played football, hockey, had a record in swimming the breaststroke and loved watching WWF and Gene Autry movies with his daughter Stephanie. Sadly, he struggled with addiction.
He was versatile in his work – landscaping, drywall, renovating a house but his passion was driving trucks and teasing Angela. He helped other drivers tarp, tie down and secure their loads properly, was eager to teach and could easily point out when things were not being done right. His struggle with dyslexia from a young age was evident but he was always positive. He pursued his dreams and recently had bought a motorcycle and was working on getting his bike licence, hoping to ride with “Brother-in-Law” Lorne.
The saying amongst the family was “Dana is Dana”. He was unconventional and didn’t stress about the “rules”. He had a good singing voice but seldom knew all the words to the song. That didn’t stop him – he just made up his own words. He’d get all dressed up to go places but… He wasn’t worried about money at all. Truth is he wasn’t even worried about retirement – he had the Dana plan.
Driving truck afforded Dana the opportunity to visit family and friends across Canada and he worked that into his schedule whenever he could. “Boss Man” Ray says Dana knew everybody in every shop across Canada. He loved that he had nieces and nephews. He was personable, even charismatic. He could strike up a conversation with anybody and everybody, could tell a good story and had a heart for wanting to help people.
Dana, you left us too soon, but we know that you have a place with God in heaven and that one day we’ll see you again. Keep on truckin’

  1. I had a feeling when I decided to google your name. You were my first love and we lived together for 3 years 40 years ago, before your addiction came between us. We talked a few years ago and I was sad to hear that you were not doing well. The last I heard, you were homeless and I sent you a message with my phone number via Facebook. I wish you had called. Rest in peace Dana. Chasing the moon was all you ever wanted to do.
