Clinghan, Elizabeth Jane “Betty” (nee Porter)
After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the death of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Betty Clinghan of Collingwood, Ontario on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Campbell House Hospice at the age of 75.
She is loved deeply by her husband of 51 years, Derek and their 3 children, Katy (Andrew) Hurst, Tom (Emily) Clinghan and Lesley (Andrew) Cordeiro. Her grandchildren Ellie, Sam, Claire, Rory and Drew will treasure the memory of her as their kindhearted and fun loving Grandma. Betty will be remembered by her best friend and sister Katy (Sean) Howes and their children Molly (Neill) and Liam (Sarah). She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Kathleen and brother Jack Porter.
Everyone who knew Betty appreciated her quick wit and charismatic personality. Betty lived for tennis, golf, pickle-ball, gardening and walking with her friends (who also held her hand tightly through this journey). She will be especially missed by her devoted Pickering friends, family and lifelong friends from Northern Ireland, and the many people she touched throughout her life. Family meant the world to Betty. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and cherished every minute she had with each of them.
A funeral service will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel on Wednesday July 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House.
