HELFERTY, Frank
September 8th 1943-June 23 2023
Francis (Frank) Jerome James Helferty passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the age of 79 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.
Frank was born in Picton, Ontario, on September 8, 1943, the eldest of four children. In 1965, Frank joined the Ontario Provincial Police, and he and Perle made Peterborough their home, later retiring as a Sergeant after 30 years. After retirement, he drove a highway coach for Coach Canada, traveling all over Eastern Canada and the United States. He loved driving his yellow Jeep, trips to Florida, and settling into his lazyboy to watch the Leaf game with a beer. He was often seen on the street puttering around the yard, washing the cars, and helping neighbours with chores.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Perle (Burtch). Father to Christopher (Amy) and Kelly Holmes (Quentin). Proud Grandpa to Mila, Isaac, Annika and Peyton. Brother to Mike Helferty (Gina), Rose Anne Helferty (Hugh), and Pat Fox (David). Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jerry and Kathleen Helferty.
A memorial service will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home on Thursday June 29, 2023 at 2:00pm, reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice. Condolences may be made online at www.ashburnhamfuneral.ca.
