Obituary
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Harvey Vincent Fraser, 82, of Moncton, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on June 21st.
Harvey was the cherished husband of 60 years to the late Vivian Fraser (Lynds). He will be greatly missed by his devoted daughter Lisa Foster, son-in-law Jerry, and beloved granddaughters, Hailey Hanekamp (Isaac), Kelly and Carley, all of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
Born in Bryants Corner, Kent County, Harvey was the son of the late Melbourne and Ruby (Flanagan) Fraser. Harvey is survived by brother Charles (Hattie) of Clairville, sister, Freda Fraser of Moncton, and many nieces and nephews, including nephew Rodney (Mary Anne) Perry, who was particularly special to Harvey. In addition to his parents, Harvey was predeceased by his brothers, Gary Fraser (1965), Allan (Shelly) Fraser (1985); Ray (Verna) Fraser (2013), Kenneth Fraser (2016) and nephew, Ross Fraser (1979).
One of the many things Harvey will be remembered for is his incredible work ethic. Mechanically gifted, he was especially proud of his work in refrigeration with Trailmobile Canada, where he was employed for nearly 30 years and was sought after across Atlantic Canada for his specialized skills. He was equally committed to building and maintaining the family home in Lutes Mountain, where he and Vivian raised their daughter and lived for 49 years. Harvey loved nothing more than a good winter storm so he could spend hours ploughing snow in his treasured Kubota tractor. He was also known for his superb driving skills, and was called upon in times of emergencies to drive family and friends on roads that were undriveable. Harvey’s laugh warmed the soul, with many saying their day was lifted when they heard his laughter. Harvey was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed fishing at Trout Brook with his many brothers-in-law. While Harvey’s favourite early memories were of spending time at his family home and his grandparents’ in Bryants Corner, and with Vivian’s family in Emerson, in later life, he enjoyed keeping up with family and friends through Facebook.
Funeral Service to be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Saturday, June 24, at 11am with reception to follow. Interment immediately thereafter at St. James Presbyterian Church, Beersville.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Albert House Hospice, and to the Extramural nurses, who provided such wonderful care to Harvey and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Albert House Hospice SENB.
