It is with tender hearts that we announce the passing of our loving and courageous mother; Gertrude Ethel Simser (née Brisbois, formerly Millaire) on Wednesday June 14, 2023 in her 85th year at Saint Patrick’s Nursing Home in Ottawa, surrounded by her children. Beloved wife of the late Malcolm Simser. Cherished mother of Suzanne Millaire, Raymond Millaire and Claudette Racine (Jean-Marc Racine). Doting grandmother Alexander, Sarah, Kyle, Rachelle and Jesse. Dear sister of the late Roy, Mae (late Elwood Pollex), Francis (late Alma), Thomas (Jacqueline), Gladys (late Lindsay Atkins) and Margaret (late Russell Dick). Gertrude, born October 8, 1938, the youngest of seven children. She was passionate about her family & friends and a big fan of baseball & hockey there is so much more we could add about her but you would fall in love and miss ever meeting her. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families, whom she loved dearly. We would like to thank the staff and the residents at Saint Patrick’s Nursing Home /Kilkenny House where she resided for over 7 years providing a family atmosphere. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. from 6-8 pm on Tuesday June 20. Funeral Wednesday to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2718 8th Line Rd. Metcalfe for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 am. Interment Parish Cemetery.
