CHIPMAN, Dorothy “Dickie” (nee: Winfield) – Passed away on Monday, June 12th, 2023 at the St. Catharines Hospital in her 94th year. She is now reunited with her beloved husband and best friend for 62 years, George (2014). Loving mother of John Chipman (Peggy) and Mark Chipman (Leslie). Proud and loving grandmother of Krystie Purvis (Ryan), Shannon (Sam), Johanna and great-grandmother of Ben and James. Dear sister of Bill Winfield. Predeceased by her son David and granddaughter Julia.
Dickie was born in Digby, Nova Scotia and was raised there before moving to Ontario. She was a long-time member of Central United Church in Welland. In the community, Dickie was known for her selflessness and generosity. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and her acts of kindness made a significant difference in the lives of others. Dickie will continue to inspire us to embrace life’s joys, face its challenges with resilience, and treat others with love and compassion.
An informal Celebration of Life will take place at Lookout Ridge Retirement Community, 1505 Lookout Street, Fonthill, from 1-3pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
