Surrounded by her loving family at Riverview Gardens on Thursday, June 8, 2023, Martina (Tina) Johanna Maria Desbiens (nee Classens) of Chatham, passed away the the age of 74. Born on April 4, 1949 in the Netherlands, cherished daughter of the late Gerard and Marie Classens. Loving mother of Dan Desbiens (Denise) of Erie Beach, and Sandy Moon (Dan) of Chatham. Proud grandmother of six; Gabrielle McKinlay (Crawford), Madison Desbiens (Josh), Mackenzie Desbiens, and Brady, Jackson, and Kinsey Moon. Dear sister of Nell Evans (Wayne), Marty Classens (Cathy), Ann Paradis (Claude), Gerard Classens, Will Classens, and sister-in-law of Casey Van Den Diepstraten. Predeceased by her siblings Mary Van Den Diepstraten, Joseph Classens, and Renee Classens.
Tina loved sitting outdoors enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, especially those near a lake or river, as it gave her a sense of peace and solitude. She will forever be remembered by her loving family, friends, and caregivers as having a feisty and tenacious spirit. You are finally free mom…May the wind carry you home.
Dan and Sandy would also like to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens for their amazing support, professionalism, friendship, and compassion during her four year stay…the world is indeed a better place for the work you do!
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to please consider the Canadian Cancer Society.
