Obituary of Patricia Christina Ryer
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Patricia Christina (Sheils) Ryer at age 79 at Oromocto Public Hospital on the 4th of June, 2023. Pat was born at Saint Joseph Hospital in Saint John, NB, on the 23rd of January, 1944, and was raised in Westfield, NB.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Ryer; sons: Michael (Ann), William (Sherrie); brothers Bobby, Murray, and sister Carol. Nanny will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons: Michael (Natasha), Justin (Melissa) and Jonathan (Kelly), as well as her many great grandchildren, Brayden, Briella, Brysen, Aleah, Brantley, Charlie, Amelia and Dallas, all of whom she doted on. Pat is predeceased by her parents Vivian and Milton Sheils, her step-father Wesley Chilvers, and her brother Donnie.
Pat was married to Ernie during their stay in Germany and the two of them built their life together over 60 years. She will be remembered as a caring mother to their two sons, and for how she instilled a strong family bond within us all. A true matriarch, Patricia was always there to lend a hand and provide motherly advice to those around her. She played an important role in the upbringing of her grandsons, and they will always hold those memories close, including that of her special homemade chocolate cake or other adored recipes. Pat was an avid quilter and member of the Fredericton Quilters Guild which she enjoyed attending with her many friends. A generous soul with an uplifting smile, Pat will be greatly missed by the friends and family blessed to know her presence.
Family would like to thank the many nurses at Oromocto Public Hospital for their compassionate care over these last few months.
The family will continue to honor Pat’s memory by ensuring her love, compassion and recipes are handed down to her great grandchildren.
In keeping with Pat’s wishes, no visitation or funeral will take place. A burial will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice.
