It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather John (Jack) Albert French on May 31 at the private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion in Carbonear.
Leaving to mourn daughter Linda, son Roger (Lisa) and daughter Susan. Grandchildren Trevor (Sheryl) Shane (Megan) Michael (Stephanie) Stephanie (Chad)and Courtney (Ryan) Great grandchildren, Jackson, Carter, Scarlet, John, Ivy, Beckham, and Kate. Sister Betty (Tony) Predeceased by wife, Pauline , baby son John, father Joshua, mother Alberta, sister Alice, sister Emily, brother Nicholas, and brother Robert.
Dad was very well-known throughout the Avalon as the “telephone man”. He worked with Newfoundland telephone for 36 years and retired as a pioneer with Bell Aliant. He truly enjoyed his job and made many friends throughout his career. During the warmer months of the year dad was a frequent visitor of Pinhorn‘s beach and Downey‘s bank where “many a yarns was told”. Many of his “Beach” friends have passed on before him and the ones that remain will surely miss him.
Many thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Carbonear General Hospital, and Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion for their kind and compassionate care during his stay there.
Viewing will take place at Green‘s funeral home on Friday, June 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral will take place on Saturday, June 3rd at 2pm at Green’s Funeral Home. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery Winterton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Janeway Telethon or charity of one’s choice.
