Obituary of Marilyn Scott
Marilyn Joyce Scott (nee Ryall), 91, of Kingston, Ontario, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023.
Marilyn was born on January 11, 1932, to Dan and Nancy Ryall in Windsor, Ontario.
In 1951, Marilyn married Robert Scott in Windsor, Ontario and soon after moved to Toronto, Ontario. Marilyn and Bob went on to have three children, Pamela Scott, Michael Scott and Veronica Fortune (nee Scott). Marilyn was blessed with seven grandchildren with whom she spent much time.
Marilyn and Bob were fortunate to have a 63-year marriage that was full of fun, hard work and lots of travel. They particularly enjoyed the energy of the big City together, embracing all it had to offer. Marilyn was proud of a 30+ year career with Bell where she influenced the lives of her employees as a respected and award-winning manager. She retired in 1985 and went on to enjoy many happy years with Bob.
Their favourite time together was integrating into their Campbellford, Ontario retirement life where they were both significant contributors to Rotary, Friends of Ferris Park and the publishing of Gleanings – A History of Campbellford/Seymour. From Campbellford, Marilyn and Bob made their final move to Kingston, Ontario to be closer to family. In their time there, they had the opportunity to continue to be very active in Rotary and made many significant friendships. After Bob’s passing in 2014, Marilyn maintained her connections and relationships with those important to her.
Marilyn was known for her wit and charm, she loved being the centre of attention and was always the life of the party. Marilyn loved music and dancing, choosing a favourite song each year. She appreciated art and good manners and always enjoyed meeting new people. Her life was led with style. Her energy and fun-loving way will be greatly missed.
Marilyn’s immediate family plan to hold a private memorial in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates the extraordinary care Marilyn received from Fairmount Home and suggests donations be made to them in her memory (www.frontenaccounty.ca/en/fairmounthome/donate-now.aspx). Marilyn was also a supporter of the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.
