The family announces with great sorrow his passing, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Timmins and District Hospital Hospice at the age of 73.
Loving husband of 55 years of Claudette L’Ecuyer (Bélair). Dear father of Tammy Murphy (Sean) of Bradford, ON and Daphne Bédard (Alain) of Timmins. Loving grandfather of Nolan and Logan Murphy of Bradford, ON, and Maxim and Eric Bédard of Timmins. He will be missed by his brother and sisters, Marcel L’Ecuyer (Mona) of Bala, ON, Jackie MClusky (Bob) of B.C., Colette Tremblay (Gilles) of Timmins and Andre Jr. L’Ecuyer of Sudbury; his brothers-in-law Marcel Bélair (Claire), Gérald Bélair, Claude Bélair (Pam) and Jean-Pierre Etelain, all of Timmins. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Denis worked at the Kidd Creek Metsite for close to 40 years. He went on to work at Home Depot after his retirement. He was an avid reader and loved his walks. He truly enjoyed golfing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family at the cottage at Ivanhoe Lake and Keefer Lake.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Quirion, the Oncology Department in Timmins, the staff at Bayshore and Dr. Gi in Sudbury for all their support.
Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Dominique Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am at St. Dominique Church with a reception to follow. Remembrance donations to les Dames de St. Dominique and the Timmins and District Hospital – Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Époux bien-aimé pendant 55 ans de Claudette L’Ecuyer (Bélair). Cher père de Tammy Murphy (Sean) de Bradford, ON et Daphne Bédard (Alain) de Timmins. Grand-papa de Nolan et Logan Murphy de Bradford, ON, ainsi que Maxim et Eric Bédard de Timmins. Il manquera à son frère et ses sœurs, Marcel L’Ecuyer (Mona) de Bala, ON, Jackie MClusky (Bob) de C.B., Colette Tremblay (Gilles) de Timmins et Andre Jr. L’Ecuyer de Sudbury, ses beaux-frères Marcel Bélair (Claire), Gérald Bélair, Claude Bélair (Pam) et Jean-Pierre Etelain, tous de Timmins, ainsi qu’à plusieurs nièces et neveux.
Denis a travaillé au Kidd Creek Metsite pour près de 40 ans. Il a ensuite travaillé à Home Depot, suivant sa retraite de la mine. Il s’intéressait beaucoup à la lecture et à prendre des marches. Il jouissait énormément de jouer au golf avec ses petits-enfants et passer du temps avec sa famille au chalet aux lacs Ivanhoe et Keefer.
La famille désire remercier Dr. Quirion, le département d’Oncologie de Timmins, les employés de Bayshore et Dr. Gi à Sudbury pour leur appui.
Tout en respectant ses vœux, l’incinération a eu lieu. La famille recevra les condoléances le
mercredi 24 mai, 2023 de 10 h à 10 h 45 à la paroisse St. Dominique. Un service funéraire aura lieu à 11h mercredi à la paroisse St. Dominique avec une réception qui suivra.
