Dorene Ruth Mullins was born November 7, 1942 in Lacombe, AB. She grew up in the Tees area with her six siblings. At the age of 14 she left home and went to work as a nanny and then at the Three-Way Hospital in Rimbey for a number of years. There she met Earl Booth and they married December 27, 1959 and started a family in 1960. The family moved to Kelowna, BC in 1973. Over the years she enjoyed working at Peoples Food Market, Luigi’s Pub and the Pheasant and Quail. In 1997 Dorene moved to Delburne, AB and worked at the Red Deer Hospital and Parkland Nurseries for several years. She then worked for Chinook’s Edge School Division in environmental services which she enjoyed very much.
Dorene loved gardening and enjoyed working in her big yards in Kelowna and then in Delburne. She had an extensive knowledge and passion for heirloom roses and cottage flowers. She also liked to crochet and embroider and had many pieces to show off over the years. Dorene was spiritual and loved the Lord Jesus. May she rest in peace and comfort knowing she was much loved and cared for by her family and friends.
Dorene is survived by her loving family, son Randell (Claire) Booth, daughter Charlene (Gary) Appel, daughter Susan Nielsen, son Gene Booth, and son in law Jamie Jones, grandchildren: Derek (Erin), Collin (Brittany), Wesley (Rose) Booth, Nicole Deleurme, Cory (Meaghynne), and Jesse Jones, Travis, Sharie, Jeana (Ryan Pruneau), and Danie Nielsen, great grandchildren: Adalia, Jaden, Daphne, Violette, Logan, Emily, Lilly, Mylo, Eve, Theo, Axel, Duncan, Oliver, Elliott, and Esme, siblings: Roger (Mary) Thomas, Margaret Olsen, Brian (Debbie) Thomas, and Faye (Art) Pike. Dorene was predeceased by her beloved daughter Bonnie Jones in 2012, her parents Olive and Floyd Thomas in 1992 and 1993, her sister Connie, and brother William.
A celebration of Dorene’s life will be held at a later date.
