Robert “Bobby”‘s Obituary
DOUCETTE, Robert “Bobby” Arthur – Age 78 of Wedgeport, passed away on Sunday, May 14th, 2023 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Clarence and Nellie (Cottreau) Doucette. In his working years Bobby worked at the Co-Op in Wedgeport and before his retirement he worked on the Bluenose. You could always find Bobby tinkering on something; he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren. Bobby was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it, he often drove people as far as Halifax for appointments. When his wife Gertrude started gardening, he would help her out, but year after year he would take over more and more until he had plants all over the yard. They also spent lots of time walking on the beach, looking for sea glass. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Gertrude (Surette) Doucette; their children Elmer Doucette and Gregory (Tracy) Doucette. Grandchildren Hannah, Dominique, Steven and Brandon; great grandchildren Dakota, Aleah, Lucas, Malik, Damien, Xavier and Hailey. Also surviving are his siblings Joanne (David) Doucette, Vi Doucet and Joseph (Catherine) Doucette; along with many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents Bobby was predeceased by his siblings Elizabeth, Helene and a brother in infancy. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilsons Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Yarmouth. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Bobby may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or to a charity of choice. The family would like Bobby’s family and Gertrude’s family for their support during this difficult time. They would also like to thank all the doctors and nurses on 4 North and 4 East for taking such great care of Bobby during his time there.
