Joann Kathleen (Dysart) LeBlanc (Moncton, NB) died on
Saturday, May 6th, 2023 while in hospital after a series of health
challenges. In her final days, she was surrounded by her many loved
ones.
Born in 1934, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Joann moved to
Cocagne with her family and later studied at Mount Saint Vincent
Academy in Halifax. She then studied at the Provincial Laboratories in
Saint John, obtaining one of the first designations as an Advanced
Registered Technologist (ART) in haematology and worked most of her
career at The Moncton Hospital.
Joann met her husband, Hubert LeBlanc, in Saint John, they
married in 1958, and moved to Québec where they worked and
started their family. They enjoyed 18 years of a loving marriage
before his untimely death. After this tragic loss, her faith became
her refuge and Joann devoted her life to her five children. She was
supported by her own family, her closest friends and was also blessed
to have the love of the LeBlanc family and her favourite second home
in la Baie Sainte-Marie, Nova Scotia.
As much as she loved her children, she also saw her
sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as her own. Most of all, Joann loved
her grandchildren and the fun and wild adventures that went along with
being Mémé. She was also never without a dog and
welcomed chaotic visits from her many grand-dogs.
A special thanks to the friends that enriched
Joann’s life from the retiree lunches, the card games, knit
nights, travel, and happy hours. Joann was always very social and
these connections meant the world to her and to her
family.
Joann shared her talents in furniture finishing, antiquing,
knitting, decorating Ukrainian eggs, and making fudge. She was an
early cross-country ski enthusiast and adored days at the
beach.
Joann is survived by her children: Catherine Dallaire (John),
Michael LeBlanc (Susan), Nathalie Olivier (Jaco), and Julie LeBlanc
Steeves (Don). She is also survived by her nine loving grandchildren:
Zachary and Margo Dallaire, Sarah Hill, Jacob (Courtney) and Caleb
LeBlanc, Izak and Georges Olivier and Hubert and Adeleine Steeves.
Joann also leaves behind her brother Peter Dysart (Alberta) and sister
Catherine Chisholm (late David), her brother-in-law Guy LeBlanc
(Jeanette) and sister-in-law Coline LeBlanc (late Victor). She shared
special relationships with her beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, her
special honourary daughter, Kelly Gunn (Kim), and her adoring dog,
Simon.
Joann was pre-deceased by the absolute eternal love of her
life, Hubert, her parents Allison and Catherine Dysart, infant
siblings, and recently, her eldest son Marc. She said good bye to
several dear in-laws including Victor, Anita, Aimée and
David as well as two dear nephews.
The family wants to express their appreciation to the medical
staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Centre for their care and
compassion.
The family invites those who want to pay their respects to
visitations at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton
(506-858-1900) on Tuesday May 9th from 7 to 9 pm only. To respect
mom’s strong faith, a funeral mass will be celebrated at St.
Bernard’s Catholic Church, 43 Botsford Street, Moncton on
Wednesday May 10th at 3 pm.
In keeping with Joann’s fashion favourite, the
family encourages the wearing of navy blue.
In memory of Joann, donations to the Friends of The Moncton
Hospital Foundation and the CHU Dumont Foundation would be greatly
appreciated.
