Obituary of Thomas Patrick Marshall
Tom had a saying when asked how he was, “I have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.” He finally slipped on the banana peel on May 6, 2023. Tom passed at home with his wife, Barbara (née Lizotte) of 50 years, at his side. Dad will be forever in the hearts of his children Katherine Wardell (Trevor), Thomas C. Marshall and Robert Marshall (Tanya). He was born in Ottawa, Ontario to his late parents Loretta and Thomas Q. Marshall. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; Julia, Ella, Aurora, Sophia and William. Tom will also be missed by his sisters Karen Lowerison (Dean) and Sheila Flowers (Cecil), many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Robert Marshall.
Thomas worked for INCO starting in 1969 in Sudbury, Ontario. He then went to work in Guatemala for 4 years. He came to be the Superintendent of the Power House in Port Colborne, in 1986. Tom hung up his working hat in 2001, to enjoy retirement.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE 827 East Main St., Welland on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 90 Griffith St., Welland on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment of the ashes will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or St. Mary’s Church would be appreciated by the family.
