On Saturday April 29th 2023, We lost our hero, our rock, Bruce Thomas Parrent. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack.
Bruce was born in Toronto, Ontario in April 1951. Here he met and married Jane, his best friend, the love of his life. In 1977, Bruce and Jane moved with their young daughters to Fort McMurray, Alberta. That is where Bruce’s lifelong dedication to the Fire Services began.
Bruce’s passion and legacy was to ensure that the highest standard of safety and well being was provided for his firefighters and their families. His Career spanned over a period of 30 years. In 2010 he retired as Fire Chief in Whitecourt, Alberta.
Bruce’s unconditional love and support for myself, our daughters, Kris and Jacqui and our grandson, Colton is helping me cope with his tragic death. I will miss my best friend and soul mate for the rest of my life.
Our Dad’s love, guidance and playful sarcasm has made us who we are. It will always be a part of us and will be greatly missed.
My Papa’s love, guidance and unwavering belief in me has and will always encourage me to stay strong.
The beautiful memories that were created by his never-ending love and devotion to his immediate family and his firefighters and their families will always be with us and are helping us to cope.
Bruce is survived by his wife Jane Parrent, his daughters Kris Foote (nee Parrent) and Jacqui Parrent, his grandson Colton Foote and his brother Wayne Parrent. He was predeceased by his father and mother Albert and Jenny Parrent.
At his request no funeral service will be held. Arrangements are being made for a Celebration of Life service to be held in Whitecourt, Alberta sometime in late September or early October.
