Manuel Agostinho Pereira, better known as O Formiga passed away on April 25, 2023 at 87 years of age.
He was born August 28, 1935 in the village of Ribeira da Janela, Madeira Island, Portugal.
At 17 years of age, he purchased his first pair of shoes and left his parents, Manuel and Augusta, and his siblings; Ferdinando, Antonio, Maria, David, Arminda, and João in search of a better future for him and his family.
His life’s journey started in Brazil, continued to Venezuela where he reunited his family, and ended in Montreal, Canada.
In February 1969 he arrived in Montreal with his wife and three eldest children to reunite with his wife’s family and worked to establish roots and expand his own family.
Following 62 wonderful years of marriage, he is survived by his wife Fatima, his children; Fatima (Agostinho), Humberto (Jocelyne), Jackie (Jean), Marlene (Tony) and Joyce (Martin), his grandchildren; Bobby (Anicka), Lisa, David (Carolyne), Jonathan (Shannon), Jessica (JP), Anne, Vanessa, Cynthia, Juliana and Alessia as well as his great grandchildren; Emilio, Dario, Romeo, Olivia, and Victor.
He made everyone who knew him laugh at all the stories he shared. Our family is grateful to know he is finally at peace.
The viewing will take place on Thursday, May 4th 2023 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm, and on Friday, May 5th 2023 from 9 am to 10h30 at the LaSalle Complex: 7200, Newman Blvd., H8N 1X2.
Services will take place on Friday, May 5th 2023 at 11h30 at Santa Cruz Church, 60 Rachel Street W, H2W 1G3
Interment will take place the same day at Christ-Roy Cemetery in Châteauguay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Heart Institute, or the McGill University Health Center.

Nasceu a 28 de Agosto de 1935 na Ribeira da Janela, Ilha da Madeira, Portugal.
Aos 17 anos de idade, comprou o seu primeiro par de sapatos e deixou os seus pais, Manuel e Augusta, e os seus irmãos; Ferdinando, António, Maria, David, Arminda e João em busca de um futuro melhor para ele e para a sua família.
A viagem da sua vida começou no Brasil, continuou na Venezuela, onde reuniu a sua família, e terminou em Montreal, no Canadá.
Em Fevereiro de 1969, chegou a Montreal com a sua mulher e os seus três filhos mais velhos para se reunir com a família da sua mulher e trabalhar para estabelecer raízes e expandir a sua própria família.
Após 62 maravilhosos anos de casamento, deixou a sua esposa Fátima, os seus filhos: Fátima (Agostinho), Humberto (Jocelyne), Jackie (Jean), Marlene (Tony) e Joyce (Martin), os seus netos: Bobby (Anicka), Lisa, David (Carolyne), Jonathan (Shannon), Jessica (JP), Anne, Vanessa, Cynthia, Juliana e Alessia, bem como os seus bisnetos: Emilio, Dario, Romeo, Olivia e Victor.
Fazia rir todos os que o conheciam com as histórias que partilhava. A nossa família está grata por saber que ele está finalmente em paz.
O velório terá lugar na quinta-feira, 4 de Maio de 2023, das 14h00 às 17h00 e das 19h00 às 21h00, e na ta-feira, 5 de Maio de 2023, das 9h00 às 10h30, no Complexo LaSalle: 7200, Newman Blvd., H8N 1X2.
O funeral terá lugar na ta-feira, 5 de Maio de 2023, às 11h30, na Igreja de Santa Cruz, 60 Rachel Street W, H2W 1G3
O enterro terá lugar no mesmo dia no cemitério Christ-Roy em Châteauguay
