Obituary of Joyce Lennox Smith
Smith: Joyce Lennox
Aged 97 years, Joyce Lennox Smith (nee Moore) of Rothesay, New Brunswick died peacefully on April 25th, 2023. Born on April 14th, 1926, in Grand Bay, New Brunswick, Joyce lived in Rothesay (formally Fairvale) for 70 years where she raised 3 boys with her husband George Milton Smith. Joyce loved the outdoors, flowers, gardening, and all animals – especially birds. Joyce could be found swimming in the Kennebecasis River well into her nineties and always looked forward to spending time with the ‘beach gang’.
A member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, Joyce enjoyed many years of activity with the Altar Guild and the A.C.W.
Joyce was predeceased by her brothers Harold Moore and Lewis Moore, as well as her husband George Smith (1913-1999).
She is survived by her sons Geoffrey, Stephen (Brenda) and Roger (Joanne McFall); granddaughters Bronwen, Erin and Shelly; grandsons Patrick, Rory and Samuel; nieces Maureen Clifford (Wayne), Anne MacKay (Richard), Sara Harding (Stephen), Becky Campbell (Bruce), Diana Moore (Brian), Anita Hallyburton (Wayne); and nephews Sean Moore (Elaine), David Peacock (Marie), Keith Peacock (Sydney), and the late Michael Moore (Lois).
Having lived at Shannex for two years, the family extends heartfelt appreciation for the staff’s kind and compassionate care.
A Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay, on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at 12 noon. Immediately after the service, a gathering of friends and family will take in the adjoining hall. Interment to follow at 3pm in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, 1650 Manawagonish Road, Saint John.
In lieu of flowers, donations to charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424).
