Gwendolyn “Jean” Freckleton, a long-time resident of the Toronto area, transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday the 27th of April 2023.
Born in 1948 in Warsop, Trewlany Jamaica as a little girl she would run all of her mother’s and aunts errands. When she was older, she moved to Kingston where she became a dancer and hit fame on the party scene because of her beauty and dancing abilities. She also lived in Spanish Town. Jean was the ultimate entrepreneur, she owned a night club, a bar, and a pastry shop in which she made delicious pastries and wedding cakes before migrating to Canada. In Canada she was very resourceful and started her own round robin while working tirelessly in a meat processing factory. Jean enjoyed playing bingo with friends, cooking, socializing and providing a place for people to relax and enjoy themselves. You would never go hungry if Jean had anything to say about it. If you’ve ever had her fried dumplings or any dish she made, you know her cooking skills was outstanding. Jean was a humanitarian in her own right who always offered a helping hand or a plate of deliciously cooked food to those in need. Jean was known for giving the shirt off her back and offering her last dollar to anyone who needed it. She loved caring for others. Jean is a guiding angel over the following. Children: Jacqueline (Jackie), Garfield (Steve), Nicola (Nicky), and Kenrick Ricky). Sisters:
Paulette, Verona, Jackie, Delores, Sandra, Verona(2), Roama, Marie, Lovette, Janet, and Claudette. Brothers: Patrick, Neville, Donovan, Lenworth, Kenroy, James, Errol, Toney, Jugu, and Shawn. 18 grandchildren, great grand children, countless cousins, nieces, nephews
and friends.

Visitation will take place at DeMarco Funeral Home – Woodbridge Chapel (8003 Weston Road, Woodbridge, tel: 905-850-9500) on Friday, June 2nd from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Her Homegoing will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Revivaltime Tabernacle (4340 Dufferin St., Downsview, On.) Burial will follow immediately at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Javens Sreet, Concord, On.)
