Bernice (Parker) Young
1930-2023
Bernice
(Parker) Young – 92, of Aldershot, passed away peacefully in
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Born
in Cheverie, she was a daughter of the late Mildred Parker and the
last surviving member of her immediate
family.
Bernice
was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She was an avid gardener
and loved being outdoors surrounded by nature. She also enjoyed
reading, Bingo and playing cards with her friends and
family.
Bernice
is survived by her sons, Bruce Young, Eric (Patsy) Brown, Earl Young
and Douglas (Gail) Brown; daughters, Sharon Balsor (Chris Lohnes) and
Gail Young; grandchildren, Christine (DJ) Walsh, Patrick McMullin
(Danielle Cook), Matthew Balsor, Shane (Erica) Balsor, Cody Donn Ward,
Kaylee Young and Timothy McMullin; great-grandchildren, Bowen,
Madison, Carter, Kyle and Kyla; and several nieces, nephews and
extended family.
In
addition to her mother, she was predeceased by her son, Donnie Young;
brothers, Stan, Art and Harold “Buster” Parker; and
sister, Grace Spencer.
The
family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the
Palliative Care team at Valley Regional Hospital for the exceptional
care and compassion given to Bernice.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, May 4 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Reverend Brian
Keezer officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast of the
service will be available on-line by Friday, May 5. Donations in
memory may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. To view
