April 5, 1946 – April 20, 2023
Galahad Gourmohan Sinnatamby went home to Christ his Saviour on the morning of April 20, 2023, from his earthly home in Scarborough. After blessing and praying with his wife Sothy on her 75th birthday, he peacefully went to the Lord.
He was the doting husband to Sothy (nee Spencer) loving father to Deborah and Mary Margaret (Chrishanthan), and beloved Dado to Nehemiah (Mary). Born in Badulla, Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) Galahad was the third of four children to Arthur Thuraisingham & Mary Ponmany Sinnatamby (nee Manikkawasagan). He will be welcomed in heaven by his brother, Dato Arthur (Sarojini), sister, Rukmini (Indran Seevaratnam), and first daughter, Angeline. He is survived by his sister Olive (Pathman) Mills of Toronto, Canada. He was a cherished brother-in-law to the late Mrs. Mani Rajasenan (Spencer), Mrs. Ranji Thambirajah (Spencer), late Mr. Deva Spencer, Mrs. Jeba Gunaratnam (Spencer), late Mrs. Thavam Spencer, Mrs. Thiru Abraham (Spencer) and Mr. Ruban Spencer. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews as a God-fearing and praying uncle, who believed in the power of prayer and the importance of daily devotions in developing a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Galahad, fondly known as Gora among family, began his studies at Methodist College, completing his education at St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He practiced accounting for forty plus years, retiring in his early sixties to facilitate his wife’s Tamil interpretation business. His Church ministries were his passion though. Leading worship and occasionally preaching at Colombo Gospel Tabernacle, to singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, ushering, security, prayer team and volunteering with the food bank among other things at Agincourt Pentecostal Church and finally a prayer partner with 100 Huntley Street. Galahad was the embodiment of serving the Lord with all his heart, mind, body and soul. Never absent on a Sunday or weekday service, Galahad’s presence will be very much missed by his church family.
As a father, he instilled in his daughters the vital importance of a strong relationship with God, developed through prayer and bible reading and covered his family in continuous prayers every day. He lifted their spirits with timely words of encouragement and made them laugh with his rarely-seen impish side. His wife and daughters greatly mourn his comforting presence but look forward to being met in heaven by him.
A viewing will be held on the 6th of May at OneChurch. To (Agincourt Pentecostal Church, 2885 Kennedy Road, Scarborough, Ontario) at 9 am. The celebration of life will follow at 10 am. The family welcomes you to join them in a short reception in the Church chapel. Interment will be at 2 pm at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens, 1757 Church St N, Ajax, ON L1T 4R3.
The family thanks you for your prayers and support.
