It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Mary Elizabeth (Swain)Verner, loving wife of the late John Michael Verner, passed peacefully on the morning of April 19, 2023, at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. She was born in Saint John, NB, March 5, 1933, to the late Charles and Bridget (McGowan) Swain.
Margaret was a loving and caring person who always put her family first. Christmas Eve was her favorite time of the year because that was the time her entire family gathered at her home. She loved Bingo and was a long-time member of the Loyalist City Cloggers. She enjoyed the outdoors and nature and took great delight being in her yard.
She will be deeply missed by her children, William (Bonnie) and Theresa Squires (Lew), her grandchildren; Tammy French, Reg Verner (Nicole), Rodney Squires (Debbie), Shelly Baxter (Shawn), Laura Rehn (Carson), and Neill Verner (Ottis), her 12 great-grandchildren, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son John J. Verner and brother Charles Swain.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 9:30 until 11:00am at which time the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in the Fundy Chapel. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
