Marie Anne Caron (née Roy) passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, Chatham, on Thursday April 13th, 2023, at the age of 101 years. Cherished daughter of the late Henri and Anna Roy. Beloved wife of the late Régis (1999). Loving mother of Joseph P. Caron (the late Kumru) and Rose Bertino (the late Miles). Proud grandmother of Terry Nelmes, Patrick Nelmes (Heather), Jules Caron (Enrica), Andre Caron (Rim), Yasemin Caron (Tonatiuh) and proud great grandmother of Madison Nelmes, Ally Nelmes, Liam Nelmes, Ryan Nelmes, Maya Fonseca Caron, and Mia Fonseca Caron. She was a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Survived by her brother-in-law Frank Vince. Predeceased by her brothers Napoleon (Margo) and Gerard (Alice), and by her sisters Angeline, Soeur Jeanne, Florence (Bernard), Soeur Marguerite, and Therese. Marie was a devoted parishioner of Immaculée Conception Parish. She was devoted to her parish community and family and a member of La Société des Dames de Sainte-Anne. Marie was a farm wife and delighted many with her amazing culinary skills. She was known for her chicken and dumplings, her canned pickles, and all her wonderful desserts. We would like to thank the staff of Riverview Gardens Nursing Home for their compassionate care especially these last days of her life, and Village on the Thames for their care. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on visiting on Wednesday April 19th, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculée Conception Roman Catholic Church, 24156 Winter Line Rd, Pain Court, on Thursday April 20th, 2023, at 10:30 am with celebrant Father Eugene Roy and FatherTery Runstedler. Interment at Immaculée Conception Cemetery.
Parish prayers will be held on Wednesday evening at 8:30 pm at the funeral home. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider donating to Immaculée Conception Church projects and the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent.
