Obituary of Zulmira Oliveira Silva Afonso
It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Zulmira Afonso on January 24th 2022 at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. Mother to Adelinda Maria Afonso Montague and proud grandmother (Vovo) to David and Daniella Montague, whom she adored. Mira is now in the beloved arms of her loving husband Camilo (1986). Sister to Albertina (Manuel Da Costa), and predeceased by her sister Maria and brother-in-law Antonio Rodrigues, brother-in-law Manuel DaSilva (Francelina), and brother and sister-in-law Manuel and Guillermina Afonso. Lovingly, she is remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Mira dedicated her life to the church and her family. She was an active member of St. Alfred’s Women’s League volunteering at the annual bazaar and other functions. Mira was very devoted to Our Lady of Fatima, as she was born and raised in Portugal, where she made her annual trips to the Basilica. Our Blessed Mother was at the center of how Mira lived her life with kindness and compassion. Mira touched the hearts of many throughout her years, and will be remembered forever. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St. The family invites guests for visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, January 30th from 4:00PM-8:00PM with a funeral mass at St. Alfred Church the next day January 31st at 11:00AM with a burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
