Boudreault
(Rooney) Zita Marion
June 23, 1923 to
August 10, 2022
A Life Well Lived
On August 10th in her 100th
year, Zita Quietly, peacefully and with the grace and dignity for
which she was known, departed this world, to join her husband George
Boudreault who she so dearly missed, and her son Danny Boudreault and
her daughter-in-law Sheila (Molloy) Boudreault. Zita was predeceased
by her parents Frank and Marie Rooney Orwell brothers, Wilbert (Faye)
Rooney, Gerald (Flo) Rooney, Julian (Teresa) Rooney, Leroy Rooney
sisters Doris (Ernie) McCarey and Celie (Jack) Dalziel.
Mom was the last remaining aunt, sister-in-law on our
Boudreault side of the family, leaving many to mourn her loss. Left to
cherish mom’s memory are her children, Len (Cathy)
Boudreault Ottawa, Duke and Yvonne Higgins Montague, Mike and Linda
Boudreault Montague. Sisters; Laurena (Bill) Coughlin, Marie (Tom)
Harris, Eileen (Ken) Atkinson and Joe Rooney. Grammie to nine
grandchildren, Marc (Rachael) Boudreault, Colin Boudreault, Emily
(Matt) Boudreault, Paul Boudreault, Jason (Brenda) Higgins, Bryan
(Kat) Higgins, Angela (Rory) Boudreault, Bethany (Clene) Boudreault,
Krista (Kenneth) Sanderson. Great Grandmother aka GG to 15 great
grandchildren, Angelina & Charlie Boudreault, Azaela &
Poppy Rose Boudreault, Leeland & Denali Dion, Abigail
& Brayden Higgins, MacKenzie, Alex, and Emma Higgins, Shay
& Maggie McNaboe, Knox Ferguson and Celie Sanderson.
Zita’s life was dedicated to those most
dear to her along with family, education, and her faith. Mom graduated
from Prince of Wales and began her teaching career in Vernon in 1943
for the salary of $600.00. From there, she moved to Georgetown became
principal, and met the love of her life George. In 1945 Mom moved to a
two room school in Uigg. Mom always had a thirst for knowledge, and
continued pursuing her education, graduating from UPEI with her
Bachelor of Education in 1973. Mom retired from teaching at Montague
High School completing a 33 year span, touching the lives of many.
Mom’s family was everything to her, she celebrated the
highs, and listened and guided us through the lows. She always wanted
updates of what everyone was doing. A woman of strong faith,
Mom’s most memorable trip was travelling to the Holy Land.
She was a devoted member of Catholic Womens’ League,
Hospice, Eucharistic Ministry and Right to Life.
At 93 years of age mom was still driving, and visiting the
“old people” dropping off fish cakes! She enjoyed her daily
crossword, Cryptoquote and loved a game of bridge.
The last three years, living with vascular dementia and Covid
dramatically impacted the quality of Mom’s life, but it was
an honor and a privilege to be with Mom especially on those days when
her memories came floating back. Sharp witted, world traveller, music
lover, friend, advisor… you did good Mom… you did good! Rest
easy.
