Yvonne’s Obituary
HURLBURT, M. M. Yvonne – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Yvonne, at the age of 90 at Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, formerly of Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co., on January 28, 2022. Born December 20, 1931 in Cape St. Mary, she was a daughter of the late Mandé and Rita (Doucet) Comeau. Yvonne began working in Halifax at the Moirs Chocolate Factory, after which she moved back home and worked at the Lakelawn Inn. She then married Leonard, after which she worked as a school teacher in Pinkney’s Point for some time, having also worked at the Cliff Street Laundry, Atlantic Blue Textiles and as a fish processor. But mom was a homemaker at heart and her children were her life. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and knitting, and enjoyed going to flea markets and shopping at Frenchy’s. She was also a member of the Carleton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. She is survived by her loving children, Gary (Pearl) Saulnier, East Canaan; Anne (James) Rozee, South Ohio; Lucille (Hugh) Pothier, Wedgeport; Alan (Lisa) Saulnier, Lower Wedgeport and Joey (Cheryl) Saulnier, Yarmouth, as well as by a step-son, Wayne (Tina) Hurlburt, Pleasant Valley. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lisa, Daniel, Joel, Andy, Emily, Julia, Amy, Danny, Matthew, Leah and Brandon; step-grandchildren, Jeanette and Melanie; nine great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, as well as by a brother, Ralph (Brenda) Comeau, Cape St. Mary. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Leonard Saulnier as well as by her second husband, Arthur Hurlburt; brothers, Daniel and Henri Comeau, and a sister Ida Bennett. Please note that all attendees to the visitation and/or funeral are asked to use the parking lot entrance at the funeral home. In keeping with provincial Covid guidelines, attendance/seating will be limited to a maximum of 50 people (proof of double-vaccination required), with priority being given to the family. The wearing of masks and social distancing guidelines must be observed. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment will follow in St. Raphael Cemetery, Pinkney’s Point. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Raphael Cemetery, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
