Yeandle, Lee William
Perhaps best said by two of his nieces, “Throughout my whole life I’ve always thought…If I can be as kind as Uncle Lee-he’s my bar and the kind of person I want to be.” “Some people truly are just larger than life, and maybe that is why we take it for granted that they’ll always be there.” In all of our hearts, he will live forever.
With a lifetime of wonderful memories full of family and friends, we sadly announce the passing of Lee William Yeandle. After recently getting great reports from his doctors in his long journey with cancer, Lee was doing what he loved so much, skiing at Blue Mountain on a beautiful, sunny day.
Wonderful husband and very best friend to Candy for over 52 years, Lee’s greatest loves were Candy and his family, his countless good friends, riding his beloved Road Star motorcycle, skiing, sailing, meeting people and always feeling so blessed to have been able to enjoy many travel adventures around the world.
Born in Paris, Ontario, and remaining a farm boy at heart all his life, Lee was the son of the late Elmer and Jean Yeandle. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Linda Yeandle, Lorna Jones (Rick), John Yeandle (Janet) and Anne McClintock (Ian). Growing up in Long Branch attending James S. Bell and New Toronto Secondary, he developed many treasured friendships which have lasted to this day. Lee met Candy and more amazing friends, through his membership and involvement in the St. Paul’s United Church Youth Group and The Coming Age Choir and Band, where he discovered his love and talent for music and song.
Family was everything to Lee. He was an adored and fun-loving uncle to Chris (Shawna), Jennifer (Tom), Shelly, Carolyn (Mike), Jessalyn, Chris (Lori), Jesse (Sarah), Ryan (Danielle), and Sara – always taking a special interest in each. Lee also loved sharing in the lives of his great nieces and nephews, Darian, Samara, Cassandra (Ryan), Mackenzie, Katelynn, Logan, Ronan, Harrison, Gracelyn, Sadie and Marin. He will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncle and a multitude of cousins.
Throughout his career, Lee loved the challenges of Project Management with Baan, PWC, and IBM where he had the opportunity to work in all corners of the world. Being community-minded, he was treasurer of Erin Minor Hockey, Friends of the Library, Sound Investment Community Choir and was an active volunteer in the Meaford Scarecrow Invasion, Events for Life and Erin and Grace United Churches. Fun times were also had on the Erin Ball Team where special life-long friendships were made.
Lee loved and lived life to the fullest. His beautiful smile, kind heart, and mischievous nature endeared him to all he met. Lee lived his life as in Tim McGraw’s lyrics, “Someday I hope you will get the chance to live like you were dying…like tomorrow was a gift”…to love deeper, speak sweeter, and give forgiveness.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in the near future. A Celebration of Lee’s Life will be announced in the spring when we are able to gather safely.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Church Thornbury, the Juravinski Cancer Centre or Meaford Hospital Foundation, through Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
