WYLIE Garnet Delbert 2022

WYLIE, Garnet Delbert
With great sadness we announce the passing of Garnet Delbert Wylie on May 28, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Linda Wylie, and proud father of Kerra Wylie (Michel Horne), Lisa Blake and stepdaughter, Heather Lockhart. Grandchildren Gabriel Coutu and Russell Horne (Chelsea Gateley) miss him dearly. Garnet graduated from General Motors Institute (GMI) in Flint, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1964, and embarked upon a 39-year career with GM of Canada’s Car Assembly Plant. His fellow Phi Kappa Epsilon fraternity brothers have remained lifelong friends. His engineering background shone through in his DIY attitude, which kept him happily busy around his home and property. Outside of work, Garnet enjoyed his Friday night poker, downhill skiing with his girls, ice skating on the Whitby Marsh and playing catch in the yard. He and Linda loved to dine out and visit with their friends and family. Following his retirement in 1998, Garnet was able to more avidly pursue duplicate bridge and golf at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club. The family extends our gratitude and appreciation to the numerous caring staff at Faith Place Day Program and Lakeridge Health (Whitby, Oshawa and Ajax). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday June 8th, 2022, 2-4 pm, at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD, 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558). Donations are welcome to the Alzheimer’s Society Durham Region, Faith Place OSCC or a charity of your choice.
