Woodrow Aaron Hedd
October 23, 1927 – July 5, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Woodrow Aaron Hedd announce his passing on July 5, 2022, at Western Long-Term Care in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 94. Woodrow was born to Darius and Ethel (nee Gillingham) of Ragged Harbour, NL on October 23, 1927; he was one of three children (brother Leo and sister Mamie). On August 15, 1951, he married the love of his life Mae Hedd and they enjoyed a wonderful life together until sadly he had to say goodbye to her on March 23, 2022.
Leaving to mourn are their five children Lawrence Hedd (Diane), Jean Young (David), Karen Arsenault (Merne), Lori Ball (Ralph), and Susan Stuckless (Grant); grandchildren: Jennifer, Suzanne, Victoria, Daniel, Sara, Keshia, Tyler, Tanya, Richard, Ryan, Jillisa, and Chloe; eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Yvonne King (Eddie) and Helen Tulk (Larry); brother-in-law and very special friend Byron Farnell (Pauline); and caregiver Donna Winsor.
For Woodrow belief in God was important to him and when he did not make it to church, he would listen to the sermons on television (with the volume turned way up!). He played checkers with people all over the world on his computer and would keep that wood furnace going constantly. While many looked at problems and complained, he looked for solutions. His strength and courage all through the years made his family proud and he was loved very much. When Dad gets to heaven, he will be sure to have a lot of suggestions on how to make it better and how to make the world below better too.
Thank you to the staff at Western Long Term Care – Palliative Unit for the care and compassion during Dad’s stay.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on July 6th, 2022, from 7-9 pm and on July 7th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, 17 Spruce Street, Deer Lake on July 8th at 11 am. Interment will be announced at a later date. In memory of Woodrow, flowers will be graciously accepted or donations can be made to Western Long Term Care – Palliative Unit, Corner Brook.
