Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Winifred (Wynne) May Tallack (Capaldi) announces her passing. Wynne died peacefully at Willowcreek Continuing Care Center in Claresholm, Alberta following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Wynne was born in Caldercruix, Scotland on January 8, 1941. She was one of seven children born to Antonio and Mary Capaldi. Wynne attended school in Scotland and loved studying, music and sports. She particularly loved track and field.
Wynne married her husband Gerald on December 24, 1957, in Airdrie, Scotland. They were married forty-two years until Gerald’s death in 1999.
Wynne and Gerald immigrated to Canada with their three daughters in November 1966. Their son was born in Canada in 1969.
Following their arrival in Brandon, Wynne worked hard to help support the family and held various positions. The ones she enjoyed the most and spent a number of years were at the Suburban Restaurant, Green Acres Drive-In, and Muntz Music.
Wynne enjoyed being a member of Brandon’s CB Club. She was a member of the Ladies Bowling League and also enjoyed coaching a championship girl’s soccer team for several years. Along with her husband, she also taught the Marriage Preparation Course at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church.
Wynne’s greatest joy was in providing a comfortable and happy home for her family.
She was an expert seamstress, crocheter, knitter, cross-stitcher, and her family were recipients of many fine articles hand-made with her love. Gardening was also one of her passions and for many years the family enjoyed the results of her labor in her homemade soup and preserves. In later years, she especially love her days camping and spending time outdoors fishing with Gerald at Assessippi Park where they held a seasonal site. Wynne was also a talented artist and her paintings are proudly displayed in the homes of her family.
Winifred was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1999 and grandson Eric in 1989.
Wynne is survived by her children Gerry Laing (Craig), Rosemary Kozak (Raymond), Carolyn Tallack, and Mark Tallack (Candace). There are also ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren surviving.
We are all so grateful to Mom’s devoted friend and caregiver, Gwen Broomfield for the extra love, care, and devotion she gave tirelessly.
Wynne will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband on February 28 in Brandon, Manitoba following a private family service.
Remember Me In Your Heart
To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea…
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity….
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me,
I will never be gone.
