He is predeceased by his son Cameron; Stepdaughters Lynn Walcot and Michelle Lafrancois; and grandson Scott Wilson. Willy is survived by his step-son-in-laws Gary Lafrancois and Peter Walcot. Willy was an apprentice Millwright in Denmark before he immigrated to London, Ontario in 1951 at the age of 18, becoming a citizen on March 3, 1960. Something he was very proud of. When work became lean in London Willy and his father moved to Chochrane, Ontario to work in the lumber industry in order to provide for their family in London. When he moved back to London he worked at the Canadian Bread Company for a time before moving to Calgary where he worked as a machinist in an airplane factory. He eventually settled in Windsor where he worked for the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 30 years of service. Even after retirement he worked for a time at Siemens Automotive. Willy had varied interests; he built a boat; loved to garden; remodel houses; loved fishing; and fixing things especially working on airplanes. He was a member of the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association and got to fly in a Harvard Trainer on October 8th, 2019, a highlight for him for which he received a certificate. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staffs at the Windsor Regional Hospitals for all of their care and support. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Willy’s family. Celebration of Willy’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday May 14, 2021 at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
