Obituary of Willis Henry Sammons
Peacefully, on March 28, 2022, at Edgewater Gardens, Willis Henry Sammons of Smithville passed away in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his parents, William and Edith, his older brother Orlen and his twin brother Wylie, with whom he shared a special bond. Willis lived his whole life on the family farm in West Lincoln and also worked for the West Lincoln Township for most of his career. He was commonly referred to as the “best boss ever”. Throughout his life Willis enjoyed playing hockey with the Caistor Corners, bowling and hunting with the Binbrook Hunt Club. Willis had a passion for cars and part-time farming and the Sammons Twins were known for catching a hockey game while enjoying a pint. A heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Edgewater Gardens in Dunnville for the compassion, care and support they provided to Willis during his time with them. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Thursday, March 31 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place at the funeral home, Friday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m.. Interment at Merritt Settlement Cemetery following the service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara Region by contacting Merritt Funeral Home at 905-957-7031 or visiting alzheimer.ca/niagara/en.
