William Sir 1972 2022

William Sir
1972 – 2022
Mr. William Thomas Sir passed away in Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the age of 50 years. He leaves behind two step-sons, Carter (22 years) and Ethan (19 years); two daughters, Josephine (12 years) and Nyaphar (10 years); the mother of his children, Elizabeth as well as many other family members including his cousin, Riek and his family and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in his home country of Sudan. William was born the oldest child to Thomas and Mary in South Suda. William was taken from his family around the age of 12 and was placed in the Sudanese military at that time, never seeing his family again after that day. William was a child soldier until the age of 16 or 17, and was then taken to Cuba to start and complete his schooling. He studied at a university, his main knowledge was of centrifugal pumps (water pumps). In November of 1997, William immigrated to Canada as a refugee. He arrived in Regina and while living there, he attended college and studied English as a second language. In 1998, William relocated to Brooks where he worked at Lakeside Packers for approximately five years. He then moved to Calgary, where he started doing mechanical work on vehicles, which he had become very interested in at that time. William had somewhat of a troublesome life in Calgary and in 2007, he moved to Medicine Hat at the age of 35. He proceeded to gain employment in various places doing mechanical work. William returned to college in 2009 to start his apprenticeship for his mechanics license. He met Elizabeth in August of 2008 and quickly became a step-father to Elizabeth’s sons, Carter Oster, who was 8, and Ethan Oster, who was 5. William and Elizabeth had two daughters together; Josephine Sir-Olive who was born in February 2010 and Nyaphar Sir-Olive who was born in September 2011; completing their family unit. He often stated that his children were his angels and his best friends. William was so happy when Josephine and Nyaphar were born as he finally had a family again and children were what he had wanted his entire adult life. William was always a happy and smiling guy. He enjoyed spending a great deal of time with his friends and was a bit of a party guy; often being the life of the party. William loved dancing and most especially, dancing cultural dances… we all can’t forget about his salsa moves, lol. William danced at parties and often with his children. He was known as being a very funny guy, often being quite the comedian. William will be greatly missed by his family and friends and has created and left many memories in the hearts of those who knew him. A Celebration of William’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. To assist in funeral costs, the family has asked that donations be made to gofundme/982ef7ff.
