Johnson, Wm. Russell, 65, Strawberry Plains passed away November 4th at UT Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. Originally from Greene County, he was born on March 16, 1957, and an independent contractor for over 40 years at A. J. Metler, Astec Industries and Bennett Transportation. Preceded in death by Parents, Mallaliue and Georgia Johnson; Brother, Arland Johnson; Parents-in-Law, Vernon and Dorothy Lane.
Survived by wife, Patsy Lane-Johnson; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Chelley and Brian Covington; Grandchildren, Gracee and Bryson Covington; Sisters, Patsy (Jack) Story, Sharon Cobble; Sister-in-Law, Frances Johnson. Pallbearers, Brian Covington, Irwin Cosby, Kevin Cosby, Bronson Cobble, Tim Powell, Kenny Wilson.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6th at Bridges Funeral Home from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Trent officiating. Family and friends will meet at Bridges Funeral Home on Monday November 7th at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to Thorngrove Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. Interment.
