July 17, 1950 – June 21, 2022
After struggling with health issues through the last several years, Rennie finally succumbed to them the evening of Tuesday June 21st, 2022 at Ridge-Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC.
In true Rennie fashion, he kept up his signature wry humour, still mischievous & cheeky, joking, charming and flirting with the nurses and hospital workers to the end.
Rennie was Mr. Social and reveled in the times with his many friends & acquaintances. He loved to banter and “discuss” controversial subjects – known to switch back and forth between sides just to keep an argument alive. He delighted in being outrageous and irreverently poking a hornets’ nest as those who followed his Facebook will know. But he was a BIG BIG heart and a good and loyal friend. A sense of honour was of utmost importance to him, something he certainly passed on to his sons. He loved dogs, loud music, reading, playing Bridge, trains, military history & of course, beer.
Rennie adored and was adored back by his family, his dogs, his friends. His wee grandson Cruz was an extra special twinkle in his eye.
Left to mourn and remember him with love are his Darlin’, Shelley, through thick & thin for 45 years; his treasured sons, Trevor & Riley who he was so very proud of; Cruz, the wee grandson who was a huge delight for him and Jessica his mom, the daughter he always wanted; cherished sisters Janie & Trudy; nephews Richard Cook (Sue) and Rennie Cook (Tamsyn), Chuckmala cousins Pat, Ted, Mike, Lisa, Crystal and all of their families. Predeceased by his parents & beloved sister Diane.
At the end, Rennie kept repeating, “I had a very good life.”
