1930 – 2022
William (Bill) Hart, beloved husband of Ruth Hart (nee Elke), passed peacefully to his Heavenly home on December 22, 2022. He was 92 years old. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, and his children Brian, Blaine (Judy), Brenda (Rob), and Barb (Tim), 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, along with his sisters Anne, Lydia and Erna, and his brother Leo.
Bill was born on February 22, 1930, in Minitonas, MB to Ludwig and Amalja Hart. The eldest of three sons, Bill worked on his family farm until marrying Ruth Elke, on June 16, 1954. Once married they began their own farming adventure. Bill and Ruth spent many happy years farming and raising their 4 children. In the winters, Bill set up his sawmill in the Duck Mtns, cutting lumber for a company in Winnipeg as well as local customers. In 1988 they moved off the farm to spend their golden years in Minitonas but stayed very active on the farm as well as working with his loader.
Bill committed his life to the Lord as a young man, which directed the priorities in his life, thereafter. He was very active in the church, serving wherever he was needed, as well as at Wellman Lake Baptist Camp, and the Gideon organization. He loved music and enjoyed singing in a quartet and choir and playing his trumpet.
Bill played on the local hockey team and curled until he was 90. Bill was best known for his quick-witted sense of humor, fierce determination, and love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was generous with his time, energy and money. He had a strong work ethic and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was proud to be part of the local community, serving as a Councillor and Reeve for the Municipality of Minitonas, as well as on the Volunteer Fire Department.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Amalja, his brother Otto, sister-in-law Marjorie, brother-in-laws Walter, Fred and Art, and daughter-in-law Beverly.
Bill’s Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2023, at 1pm at First Baptist Church in Minitonas, MB.
