William Bill Edgar Bird 1931 2022

Obituary of William (Bill) Edgar Bird
March 1st, 1931 – December 27th, 2022
Peacefully in his sleep in his 92nd year. Beloved husband to Doreen for 66 years. Loving and devoted father to Jeff (Brenda) and Greg (Brenda). Papa to Matthew, Jeff Jr, Breanna, Amanda, Matthew, Victoria and Travis. Great Papa to Ryan, Samantha, Kayleigh, Emmalea, Olivia, Carter and Paige. Bill was the proud owner of Ideal Box Lunch in Hamilton for 30 years. He loved taking his boys to hockey and was a convener in the Steel City Hockey League. Bill and Doreen enjoyed many years as members of the Glendale Curling Club where they had a very active social life on and off the ice.
He was a proud member of the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Police Service as a summons server until he retired at 75. The record’s girls still miss their ‘Billy’. While in the police service he was an enthusiastic member in the bass section of the HWRP Male Chorus for many years.
Bill was a great listener and only when asked, gave sage advice. He was adored by his family and friends for his quick wit, with his incredible timing and lovely sense of humour which brought many a smile, giggle or outright belly laugh.
He was a wonderful husband and father. His memory lives on in us and we miss him so much already. Cremation has taken place. Donations in his memory, to the NICU at McMaster Children’s Hospital or the SPCA would be greatly appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
Rest peacefully dad.
