William Bill Lawrence Brenton November 24 1944 January 11 2022

William “Bill” Lawrence Brenton
November 24, 1944 – January 11, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Bill Brenton announce his passing at 77 years of age on January 11, 2022 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with his loving wife Judy (nee Hubley) of 45 years at his side.
Bill was the 4th of 8 children. He is survived by his two wonderful sons Mark (Katie Zruna) and Michael (Courtney House), Dartmouth; sisters Maria (Arthur) Chisholm, Halifax, Dorothy Auby and Shirley Bertrand, Dartmouth; brothers Jack (Ruby) Coldbrook, Tom (Debbie), Dartmouth; brother-in-law Ron Wilson, Cornwall Ontario; special cousin John McLeod, Qualicum Beach B.C.; sisters-in-law Gwyn (Ken) Peacock, Vaughan; and Denise Hubley (Jean Maurice Robichaud), Dartmouth.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who enjoyed a special bond with their ‘Uncle Billy’.
Bill was predeceased by parents Harry and Jessie (nee Clattenburg), brother, Henry “Buzz”, sister-in-law Millie, sister Margaret Wilson, brothers-in-law Robert Auby, Paul Bertrand, and Philip Hubley. He is also predeceased by two special women in his life, Gran (Margaret Clattenburg) and Aunt Dorothy (Clattenburg).
Bill was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Port Wallis. He loved playing hockey on the lake, touch football, and baseball with the many friends he had. He attended Prince Andrew High School and was in the first graduating class. At about this time he began a lifelong joy of photography.
After graduating from Electrical School in Halifax, Bill worked for over 58 years as an electrician and was a long standing member of I.B.E.W. Local 625.
Bill started his own business, B&B Electric in 1980, only stopping when illness intervened. His career was highlighted by his troubleshooting abilities, work performance, and exemplary work ethic – often spending long hours until he solved a problem and came home content knowing it was a job well done. His many long-time and valued customers were a priority.
Spending quality time with his family was everything to Bill. We are left with so many happy memories of trips to Mooseland, Digby, Liscombe, (always with a fishing rod in hand). He LOVED to fish, usually throwing back his catch. Fishing with his dad, brothers and brothers-in-law, and later his sons remained some of his most cherished memories.
Bill loved all sports, but the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays were by far his favourite teams. He would spend hours with Judy and the boys watching them and was happy to offer unsolicited passionate commentary throughout! – Ever hopeful for that big win.
Bill had a wry sense of humour and loved nothing better than reminiscing and storytelling with young and old alike. Once he began, you may as well pour that second cup of tea and ‘sit a spell’!
He was a kind and gentle spirit, whether catching up with old friends, or simply enjoying special moments with his loveable grand-fur-baby, Gaspar.
The family would like to thank Dr. Simon Walling and his neurosurgery team at the Halifax Infirmary, the Emergency ICU, and Palliative Care teams at Dartmouth General for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service, in keeping with Bill’s wishes.
Please do not mourn a life lost But rather remember a life well lived
