William Bill Archibald Dunlop 19462022

William “Bill” Archibald Dunlop
1946-2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a
loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. William
passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on September
2nd, surrounded by his loving family. He was
born in North Sydney and grew up in Florence, Nova Scotia as the son
of the late Kenneth & Phyllis (Morrison) Dunlop and moved to
Riverview in 1976. Soon after arriving in Riverview, St.
Paul’s United Church became a big part of Bill’s
family.
A Commerce graduate of Acadia University in 1969, he became a
sales professional in the food service industry, retiring in 2002 as
the Vice President Director of Marketing, Hub Meat Packers. Throughout
his career he received numerous awards and accolades, including
serving on the Board of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in
Ottawa, as well as various positions on the Canadian Food Service
Executives Association. He was highly respected and dedicated to his
colleagues and customers.
A true Cape Bretoner and family man at heart, he cherished
his time with his wife Carolyn, loved the outdoors, fishing with his
sons, classic cars, riding his motorcycle, bowling, and was an avid
golfer. In 2014 he introduced the game of Pickleball to Riverview
after discovering the game while visiting in Florida. William had a
wonderful and quirky sense of humour and enjoyed making people laugh.
He had a kind and thoughtful soul and was always helping
others.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his infant son
Derek. He will be sadly and lovingly missed by his best friend and
wife of 53 years Carolyn (MacKeigan) and his two sons David
(Christina) of Winnipeg and Darren (Isabelle) of Montreal. Also left
with special memories of their grandfather are Kyla, Brooklyn, Noah,
Olivia, and Charlie. William is also survived by his two sisters,
Bernice (Buddy Taylor) of Florence, and Dale (Wayne MacDougall) of
Amherst, niece Leanne, and nephews Bryan, Stephen, Peter, and
Scott.
His family will receive friends and relatives at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd,
Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday, September 11 from 1-3pm and a funeral
service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church on Monday,
September 12 at 2pm with Rev. Steve Berubé presiding.
Masks are encouraged for visitation and are required for
the service. For those unable to attend the service, it
will be livestreamed and recorded. Donations made to St.
Paul’s United Church or a charity of the donor’s
choice would be appreciated by his family.
